General Description
Simple or occasionally branched alga with short side branches (axes), cylindrical in shape and arranged radially along the main stem (axis). Ramuli are unbranched and arranged along the side-branches either irregularly or in 2 rows, ending in 2-3 points. Arises from coarse and spined rhizome (stolon). Dark green. Up to 30 cm long (thallus).
Biology
Tropical species of this genus are used for ornamental decoration in household aquariums.

Tidal pools and subtidal reef on rough water coasts, to depth of 35 m.
