General Description
One to several cylindrical branches (stipes). Secondary branches (laterals) occurring in clusters in an irregular radial arrangement on main branches. Secondary branches are elongate to club shaped narrowing at base into a short stem (petiole). Disc shaped holdfast. Medium to dark red. Up to 15 cm long (thallus).
Biology
This red seaweed can appear almost green in intertidal areas due to increased exposure to light that bleaches its colour.

Intertidal and subtidal reefs, to depth of 30 m.
