General Description
Body very long, slender, with two small, widely separated dorsal fins; snout short, mouth large, slightly protrusible, jaws reaching front of eye, teeth small. Translucent, pale to dark green above, silvery below, midlateral stripe broad, silvery or faint pink to dark brown; snout with fine dark speckles. To 11 cm.
Biology
This species forms huge schools close to shore.
Habitat
Sheltered sandy areas and seagrass beds in shallow bays, estuaries and sheltered inlets along the coast, in depths of 0-5 m.
