General Description
Body robust, tapering gradually; head broad, rounded; eyes large, chin with prominent barbel; second dorsal fin and anal fin long-based. Greyish above, pink below, with a dark margin to the fins and a black blotch at the pectoral-fin base. To 80 cm.
Biology
A nocturnal species, rarely seen during the day.
Habitat
In bays and along the coast, on rocky reefs and nearby sandy and silty areas, in depths of 10-375 m.
