General Description
Head slightly compressed, eyes almost touching; gill openings restricted to pectoral-fin bases; head without pores. Pale greyish-brown to tan, upper half of body with 2-3 wavy horizontal stripes, often merging into single broad brown stripe, 5-6 small brown bands crossing stripes. To 6 m.

This species builds burrows in soft sediments.

Usually on soft bottoms in shallow bays and estuaries, in depths of 0-10 m.
