General Description
Body oblong, moderately deep; ventral flap small to moderate; no spines or bristles on tail base. Pale brown, greyish, or white, usually with large dark blotches, and 2-3 dark bars from eye to underside of head; tail of male with a thin blackish cross-bar near hind margin. To 31 cm.
Biology
This species is commonly trawled.
Habitat
Usually on deeper reefs; occasionally in bays, estuaries and on shallow coastal reefs, in depths of 20-200 m.
