General Description
Body long, slender; body ridges low; snout moderately long; tail fin small. Males and females similar - brownish with dark-edged pale blue bars on body segments, with a dark line on side of snout through the eye to lower part of gill cover. To 20 cm.
Biology
This pipefish is common in seagrass beds in Port Phillip Bay, Victoria.
Habitat
Shallow sandy seagrass beds in bays estuaries and along the coast, in depths of 0-25 m.
