General Description
Body slender, head broader than deep, eyes almost touching; head pores absent; top of head scaled to behind eyes; two dorsal fins, first dorsal low with rounded margin, tall in males; gill openings broad. Sandy to orange-brown above, pale below, midside with four to six brown spots, often with smaller spots between large spots; thin brown bars extending above and below spots; a long brown bar on tail base and a dark spot at upper pectoral-fin base. To 8 cm.

Collected from trawls over sandy bottoms.
Habitat
Usually on sandy bottoms, in depths of 5-60 m.
