General Description
Body long, slender; dorsal and anal fins long based, anterior dorsal-fin spines slinghtly longer than rest;tail pointed,;jaw teeth fused into a beak. Greenish to brownish, juveniles with a pale streak from cheeks to lower sides; males with fine blue lines on head, and bright orange and blue lines on lower part of dorsal fin. To 20 cm.
Habitat
Bays, estuaries and along the coast, in depths of 1-18 m.
