General Description

Upper body pale brown, underparts white, eye white. When breeding: head black with narrow white stripes. Body up to 28 cm long.

Biology

Hoary-headed Grebes form pairs and nest in colonies on aquatic vegetation.

Habitat

Brackish or salt water wetlands and dams.
