General Description
Body very long, slender; lower jaw long slender, bill-like, upper jaw short; dorsal and anal fins short-based near tail; lower lobe of tail fin longer than upper lobe. Pale greenish above, silvery-white below with an orange-red beak tip; three narrow dark streaks along anterior part of back; a longitudinal silver stripe from edge of gill cover to tail base; fins yellowish with a black spot at pectoral-fin base. To 35 cm including beak.
Habitat
Inshore surface waters in bays and estuaries, and along the coast, often near eel-grass and seagrass beds.
